Our Story
When Tom moved to Haddington from Edinburgh in 2010 with his toddler son, he was struck by the lack of facilities for young families. He decided to do something about it, so when a huge run-down office building on Lodge Street came up for sale, his ideas for a special kind of softplay took shape – one that looked after parents and carers as well as children, was comfortable, played good music and served healthy food and great coffee. A place that was fun for kids but gave adults a break too!
Our 1908 building, once the Haddington Cooperative Society (the Jabberwocky area was built on as Haddington’s first supermarket) is now transformed into the softplay and cafe, plus the four other businesses and four flats of today. Jabberwocky opened in April 2015 and the building underwent further upgrades during 2020 lockdown to reduce our impact on the environment.
Ours is a family business, run for families by Tom and his great team. We hope you enjoy your visit.
